Fungsi Oli Hidrolik


        Sistem hidrolik merupakan suatu bentuk perubahan atau pemindahan daya dengan menggunakan media penghantar berupa fluida cair untuk memperoleh daya yang lebih besar dari daya awal yang dikeluarkan. Dimana fluida penghantar ini dinaikan tekanannya oleh pompa pembangkit tekanan yang kemudian diteruskan ke silinder kerja melalui pipa-pipa saluran dan katup-katup. 
                Adapun  Fungsi utama dari hydraulic fluid (oil) adalah:
1. Transmitting power (Meneruskan Tenaga)
Karena hydraulic fluid tidak dapat dikompres, sekali hidrolik sistem ter-isi dengan fluida, seketika itu juga meneruskan power dari satu area ke area yang lain. Akan tetapi bukan berarti semua fluida mempunyai efisiensi yang sama dalam meneruskan power, sebab masing-masing fluida mempunyai sifat khusus sendiri-sendiri. Pemilihan hydraulic fluid yang benar tergantung dari pemakaian dan kondisi pengoperasian.


2. Lubricating (Melumasi)
Hydraulic fluid (oil) harus bisa melumasi komponen-komponen yang bergerak dalam sebuah hidrolik sistem. Komponen-komponen yang berputar atau meluncur harus bisa berfungsi dengan baik tanpa harus bersentuhan dengan komponen yang lain. Hydraulic oil harus bisa mempertahankan oil film di antara dua permukaan untuk mencegah gesekan, panas dan keausan.

3. Sealing (Menutupi)
Banyak komponen-komponen hidrolik di-design dengan menggunakan hydraulic oil dari pada mekanikal seal dalam komponen. Viskositas (kekentalan) dari oil akan membantu menentukan kemampuannya untuk melapisi.
4. Cooling
Hidrolik sistem menghasilkan panas bila sedang mengubah mekanikal energi ke hidrolik energi atau sebaliknya, Pada saat oil bergerak melalui sistem, panas akan merambat dari komponen-komponen yang lebih hangat ke cooler. Oil akan memberikan panas tersebut ke reservoir atau cooler yang telah di-design untuk menjaga oil temperature tidak melebihi batas.

5. Cleaning
Fungsi lain dari oil adalah membersihkan. Meskipun pada hidrolik tank sudah ada filer screen, bukan tidak mungkin kotoran debu akan masuk ke dalam sistem. Kotoran-kotoran ini akan dibawa oleh oil menuju ke tangki yang kemudian akan ditangkap oleh filter yang ada di dalam tangki.

Selain fungsi-fungsi tersebut di atas cairan hidrolik (oil) juga bisa mencegah karat dan korosi pada komponen-komponen metal, mencegah oil membentuk buih dan oksidasi, memisahkan udara, air serta kotoran yang lain dan juga menjaga oil dari perubahan temperature yang besar.
